Pace is a song regarding the relations between two people. In the song Maya uses pace in two separate ways. She begins speaking on the pace in regards to how fast things move between the two of them getting to know each other. This is a common dilemma with new couples where one person becomes more excited about the relationship and tends to try to speed things along while the other begins to feel overwhelmed. She continues to express her feelings for them but then pivots the idea of pace to have a more sexual meaning.
